Spearheaded by conservation, this project began with dewatering Kitsap Creek to remove an existing box culvert and tires which were previously used for bank stabilization. These were then replaced with habitat logs to create scour pools and areas of slow-moving water for salmon spawning within the Chico Watershed. In addition, temporary access was provided to nearby homeowners while the previously failing culvert was replaced with a 50-foot steel bridge that provides a salmon pass-through to a spawning and rearing area in upper Kitsap Creek.
