Project Description

Foothills Trail is an ongoing rails-to-trails project in Pierce County that will eventually span more than 28 miles and connect with other trails in both directions. Phase II was awarded to Pivetta Brothers Construction and our team began by clearing and site preparation followed by the construction of:

  • Approximately 4,170 linear feet of asphalt concrete trail
  • 2,850 linear feet of 14.6 wide elevated pin pile bridge
  • A 30-foot timber bridge
  • Wetland mitigation
  • Gravity block walls

The project began midsummer 2016 and extended into the wettest winter on record but that didn’t stop or delay construction. In fact, the pin pile bridge span was completed on time during a season riddled with uncommonly heavy rain and snow.
